Certainly not wanting more phone calls than I need it was just an immediate example of other alternatives to email. Sometimes people get so locked into email they expect response in almost real time. I'm a phone guy but hate the phone. I think it is now a rude interruption and should be for critical/emergency use only. If someone has a question for me or needs to tell me something I would much rather have an IM or text msg. Then I have control of the communication. I rarely answer voice calls for that reason. Let it go to VM and then I again have some control. Besides, a guy like me with ADD has no time for the pleasantries involved with a phone "This is Erwin, Hi Mike, pause... Ya I'm doing good, how you been? pause..." So 15 seconds of my life GONE! If it is going to take a while to explain and doesn't need immediate reply, send an email. But then email just irritates me.
